Quilting felt GOOD!!!
I was able to finish a UFO this weekend...well, the top anyway! I hope to quilt it by Tuesday or Wednesday morning. The focus fabric is the pink with the mulit-color splotches on it! My very dear friend and I bought the same fabric so we could make each other a top...this was 2 years ago last November! I have NO CLUE where she is in the process of making mine, although I do know she's started it! She will HATE me when she finds out her top is done! She is visiting me to go on a quilty weekend in 2 weeks and I decided this weekend that I wanted to surprise her with it. (NO...she doesn't read this blog so I'm not worried about her seeing this!) The pattern was from the magazine Quiltmaker, March/April '01.
The small, dark, inner border is a very deep purple. The 4 squares in the quilt top that look almost white on here are a mint green. The colors didn't show up very well.
Anyway, quilting was great therapy! Thanks again for all the warm wishes and hugs! I love this internet family...always so supportive of each other!!! ;o)
Have a great rest of the day!
Hugs
Laurie

Laurie ...
I am just about the worst at quotes, so paraphrase with me: into every day comes a bit of sunshine.
Your quilt is beautiful but even more beautiful is your commitment to friends and family.
Your friend will love the quilt, the rest of us love you because of who you are: a dear friend.
Best wishes,
Cindy
Laurie, thanks for telling us the colors. I was thinkng the dark border was black. It sure sets everything off . . I love what that little border does to the quilt. Your friend is going to be surprised! It would be funny if she has yours finished too and she's going to surprise you!

Laurie, your little quilt is wonderful. I just love the bright colors. You chose the perfect companions for your focus fabric. I'm so glad you are looking on the brighter side now - life has been awfully hard for you the past few days. This quilt has got to have made you smile while working on it. And how wonderful it will be when you surprise your friend with it.
what a brighten up your day quilt! I am sure your friend will love it-and good for you to boost your spirits by working on it too-looking forward to seeing how you quilt it...big hugs
Won't this be a fun surprise for your friend. Isn't it amazing how good it feels to do something for someone else. Service is almost always the best therapy!

Laurie - Love the quilt! Nice and bright, right up our alley! Sorry to hear about your DD. All will work out in time. I don't have any kids, and just can't imagine the worry. I worry so much about my dogs and I know they aren't real kids. I can't imagine having a son or daughter I had to send out into the world. Can you say ulcers? Hugs!
Laurie it's beautiful! So bright, cheerful and full of love. What a lucky friend you have.
Hugs.

cool quilt! How lovely to suprise your friend. (My friends made a suprise quilt for me, but our snow storm ruined the reveal....)
Laurie - wonderful quilt! I am glad to see that you are "up" to quilting - must mean that you are feeling a little better emotionally. It is a bright, fun and cheery quilt - I am sure your friend will love it!
Cheers!
Evelyn
I like it - I'm sure your friend will too.
I'm sorry to hear about your daughters troubles, boy it hurts when our kids hurt, doesn't it? But you did the best thing, head off to the sewing room and work on a quilt. You accomplished two things: you soothed your heart and you acted like a wonderful friend!
Isn't it fun to challenge a friend...it will be interesting to see what your friend did with the fabric she has..and a blast if you can get yours done first. I am so competitive!
lovely quilt, esp for a friend. glad to hear you sound so much happier!
