I'm on a ROLLLLLL!!!

I finished this snowman top 2 winters ago (I think). I felt like turning it into a quilt so I put it on my longarm today. I love bright colors and called it "Psychedelic Snowmen". I used the pantograph
"WATERWORLD" by Jodi Beamish. After getting thru about 1/4 of the quilting I thought...DARN IT, I should've used white thread to make it look like a snowstorm!!! I used a variegated instead which is still cute, but white would've been fun! The panto looks like Old Man Winter rearing his ugly head!!! Now for the hand stitching and it's a QUILT!!!!! WOOHOO!

I'm cold, I think I'll throw this quilt on me and start binding! That will keep me warm!

Another gift finished!!!

For my DD's boyfriend's bday in August I made him a superman quilt. I had lost the original yardage that I bought so I reordered more to make the quilt. Of course, about a week after his bday I found it! LOL...so for Christmas I made king size pillow cases for him. Here they are! Another gift done! WOOHOO!!!

All they need are buttons!!!

I got my girlfriends' aprons done!!! WOOHOO!!!!! I will give these to my friends as part of their gift. I also have a book and lip gloss. We are doing our girl Christmas lunch on Wednesday...a progressive lunch. We will have appetizers at one house, then on to salad at another, main course at another, dessert at my house, and drinks and karaoke fun at the last house! I can hardly wait! This is such a FUN group of gals! God blessed me with super friends!

Snow is on its way. Shopping is on its way. Date night with DH is on its way. Gift wrapping is on its way! Sounds like a busy weekend huh? ;o)

Have a good one! Only 11 days till Christmas!

GUM and LAUNDRY do NOT MIX

Well, one child left gum in a pant's pocket. I was NOT happy but googled it. I was SHOCKED to see that egg white rubbed in to the gum spots with a toothbrush, let it sit for 15 mins, and relaunder it. IT WORKED!!!!!!! SO THERE YA GO!!! A crisis that was avoided!

Tired and overwhelmed...

I have lost my steam for Christmas. (sigh) I am pretty much done with DH but the kids are NOT easy this year. DH and I are going shopping on Saturday (UGH) because he can't take Friday off due to his department lunch. So we will fight more crowds than I care to think about. Maybe I'll put a flask of beer or wine in my purse! LOL...I know I'll get everything done but I just feel overwhelmed at this point.

Anyone else?

MY FRONT YARD

I snapped a couple of pics of the trees in the front yard. Although the RAIN is freezing on trees, grass and other cold surfaces, the roads are just wet. And it is really raining. Supposedly there is another round on the way. When I went to bed last night they said that it was the end of round 1 and that rounds 2,3, and 4 were on the way. That never happened. Thankfully we still have power.

MORE ICE ON THE WAY...

TUESDAY EDIT: NO ICE...WOOHOO GOTTA WORK NOW...BOOHOO

It's here...the freezing drizzle started about 20 minutes ago. We are in a winter/ice warning until midnight TOMORROW NIGHT!!! UGH...the fear of losing power is NOT a good one. When we moved here, 12/30/01, we had been here about 4 weeks before THE WORST ICE STORM EVER in the Kansas City area. I remember hearing LOUD cracking noises and the roof shaking while DH and I were in bed. I'd say, "WHAT WAS THAT?" Dh said probably ice falling off the trees onto the roof. We were fortunate that year...we never lost power. Here is a synopsis of that storm:

The initial storm

Up until the point of the storm the weather in Kansas City had been remarkably pleasant; The city appeared to be experiencing a mild winter, and 2 days before the storm the tempature was over 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
According to Weather Central;
"An arctic front moved slowly southward into the Central Plains from January 29 to 30, resulting in a shallow layer of cold air near the surface. Meanwhile, a strong southwesterly jet stream began transporting a large surge of moist air with connections to the tropical Pacific. A strong temperature boundary developed, separating the warm, moist airmass across the southern U.S. from the colder, drier airmass to the north. As surface impulses moved along the frontal boundary, the stage was set for a widespread variety of winter weather. An upper level low progressing eastward across the central Pacific provided the added ingredients for a prolonged precipitation event."

Aftermath

The storm left up to 2 inches over the affected reigions on the evening of January 30th. Affected infrastructure initially held, but began to crumble as the night wore on. Electric transformers were prone to explosion and in some cases created small fires, and trees shattered under the weight of hundreds of pounds of ice. After the 31st, More than 650,000 residents were without power, including 350,000 in the Kansas City metropolitan area alone. In some cases, power didn't return to residents for nearly 14 days. Approximately 500,000 trees were affected in Kansas City alone, including 2 "Bicentennial Trees" which were estimated at being over 200 years old. States of emergency were announced by the governors of all 3 states.

I sure hope we aren't in for that again. DH is in sunny Tampa, FL and said it's 80 there. I said that is SO NOT NICE! LOL...but he'll get paid back when he can't get home tomorrow due to this storm.

Maybe tomorrow will turn into a HUGE quilty day for me! WOOHOO!!! (I'm supposed to work at Old Chicago tomorrow but if this ice storm transpires they can get along without me!)

What fun I had yesterday with my son Kevin! We are both HUGE Kevin Garnett fans and when the MN Timberwolves traded him to the Boston Celtics we were THRILLED!!! Don't get me wrong...those of you who know me know that MN is HOME. BUT, Garnett is SO awesome and the T'wolves stink so we wanted Garnett to have a shot at winning an NBA title! Anywho, when we saw that the Celtics were going to be in Chicago, and Kev goes to school there, well we were all over it! LOL Here's a pic of us with the scoreboard/court behind us.

This pic was while we wandered around the United Center cuz we were so early. These guys get paid to look ridiculous and then they dance during a time out! LOL...that is the one guy's belly that is painted!

It was a special night for fundraising and so there was live music. All I wanted was a pic of Kevin with the musicians in the background but the professional dancers saw me and the gal started to dance with Kev. I thought Kev was gonna die! LOL

This is a picture of the trees south of Des Moines, IA. I was worried about the freezing rain that was predicted for Saturday and was afraid I wouldn't be able to make it to Chicago for the game. It turned out the weather was FINE...dry roads most of the way. BUT, overnight there was freezing rain in Chicago. It took me about 10 mins to scrape the windows off. (the giveaway at the Bulls game the night before was an ice scraper! LOL...pretty wise of them huh?!!) I hit the road and was fine except for wet roads. Not bad, not bad...UNTIL I hit Missouri! UGH...lots of freezing rain patches, but they didn't last too long until I hit Bethany, MO. Then I had about 30 mins where the ice was building up on the windshield. Once I got thru that, it was smooth sailing. I was only delayed about 20 mins but it is just NOT fun driving! The trees in Iowa were gorgeous though! ;o)

I am so thankful for special one-on-one time with my kids! They are memories that I will have forever!

I've been BUSY!!!

I wanted to have a new Christmas quilt for snuggling under so I pulled out a top that I made last year at some point in time. I LOVE cardinals and used Bethany Reynold's Stack and Whack fans. I just LOVE how this turned out! This is the top and the back.

The markings on this next photo press out. I did them to section off the borders to make the "heart garland".

These are 2 quilts that I did for a friend. Her quilts are always a treat because they are ALWAYS square! LOL...thanks TSB!

Have a great day! It's snowing here and DH and I are going to see Billy Joel tonight!

God took care of me...

Well, while I have been envious of EVERYONE who is getting snow today, I think I lost site of the gifts that surround me. God pretty much slapped me upside the head (LOL) when this sunset was given to me! Thanks God! You truly are an AWESOME God!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Decorating has begun!!! I am not sure what caused my desire to decorate yesterday, but it was there in full force!!! It was a dreary, warm, rainy day and Christmas was in the forefront of my mind!

I dragged up all the stuff from the basement that I wanted to use for this year. Here is a picture of the mantle. Doesn't it look cute?

This is a picture of my nativity scene from Jim Shore. I just LOVE this and leave it out all year!

Can you see that I just LOVE LOVE LOVE snowmen???!!! Yep, I do!!! Here is part of my collection!

I made this wallhanging a few years ago. It's subtle but I just love it!

These are a couple of quilts...one is Christmas and the other is snowmen!!!

This quilt on the dining room table is from a mystery class in MN. I was THRILLED with how this one turned out. If you click on the pic you can see 2 items that my son Dan made when he was about 10 or 11 years ago. I treasure these!

This is my first quilt EVER! It just makes me giggle every year when I bring it out. I look at it and see how far I have come and yet it reminds me of my quilting roots!!! Also, the nativity scene was my mom's and I treasure it. The stable it is in was made by Steve's uncle who passed away years ago. The ceramic book was something I made about 20 years ago when I took a ceramics class. Definitely treasures all of them!

This is my little "live" tree! I struggled to put this bugger up but FINALLY got it done! WOOHOO!!!

I have collected Dept. 56 the Original Snow Village for years. I have not put them out since moving here 6 years ago though. I put a few of them out this year and it made me happy to do so.

Lastly, I have wanted to post this pic for a few days but blogger was NOT cooperating with me. This is another apron for a friend of mine. I like how it turned out!

The tree is up now and I am just waiting for my youngest to finish his "safety nap" (he's the fireman) and he will help me put the lights up and then the ornaments!

There are more decorations but I didn't want to bore you! I am now in the CHRISTMAS MOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

NINE YEARS LATER...

Today is the 9th anniversary of when I was told I had breast cancer! That was NOT a good day in my life. I was alone, holding on to a phone, saying OK, OK, OK, OK to all the things the phone was saying to me. I hung up and tried to call Steve (dh). He wasn't at his desk. I tried to call my sister, she wasn't home and doesn't have a cell, I tried to call my dad, but he was having coffee with his "cronies". I tried to call my best friend but she wasn't home either. I WAS ALONE. I FINALLY called Steve and pushed "0" for his secretary. I got him out of a meeting and told him. There were 2 people who loved each other holding on to phones, unable to speak.

LIFE HAD CHANGED. Life was strange for a long time after that phone call. It was a series of Drs. appts, all of them asking the same questions and poking at the same spot on my breast. The oncologist, the surgeon, the radiologist, the plastic surgeon...they all did the same thing. By the time I got to the radiologist I was paralyzed for words. DH had to do the talking for me as I sat in a chair with silent tears streaming down my face. Telling 4 little kids was probably the MOST DIFFICULT thing...I remember little Dan, just 9yo saying "are you going to die, mom?" OH, that ripped my heart out. My oldest, Joe was 15 and said nothing. Sarah, 13 screamed and sobbed. Kevin, 11 said...hmmm...OK.

The FIGHT began. I had a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction on 12/13 after much FIGHTING to get an appointment. They wanted to wait until after the first of the year because lots of people were having elective plastic surgery since they had reached their deductible! But I KNEW I could NOT wait that long and told my regular surgeon that if some chick who wanted new boobs for New Year's Day was keeping me from saving my life she could "go to hell". He said, "I'll brb". He came back and said, "Would this Saturday be ok?" The day of surgery was that Saturday. The plastic surgeon was on call and my surgeon came in on his day off! YES...ON HIS DAY OFF! NOW that's a caring Dr.!

The recovery was brutal. I couldn't stand up straight for a month and exhaustion was overwhelming. A month later I began a rigorous chemotherapy treatment for which I qualified for in a study. I went every other Friday for 8 treatments. In between those 2 weeks I was given a shot by my neighbor every day for 10 days. The shots kept my white blood cell count up so I could stay on track with my treatments. I did so well that my oncologist cancelled my last 10 shots after my last treatment! HALLELUJAH!!!! I remember wanting to have my hair for the 2nd treatment. I did...BARELY...it was falling out but I plastered it on with hairspray. LOL The nurses were AMAZED I had hair for that treatment! I didn't tell them my secret! LOL

Well, that Sunday, my head hurt so badly that I had the kids shave my head....what an EMOTIONAL day that was. I SOBBED and SOBBED and SOBBED. NO ONE TOLD ME HOW HARD IT WOULD BE TO BE BALD!!!! As far as I am concerned that was the most difficult part of the whole adventure. There were a lot of check ups after that. A few scarey times where I had a brain scan and another time when I had a bone scan...both negative.

I am still here...9 years later and CELEBRATING LIFE!!!!! You see, I'm a FIGHTER...I told ALL of my doctors that I wasn't going to let a little breast cancer take my life...I was too young, 38yo at the time, and my kids needed their mom for a LONG TIME!!!

My DH was WONDERFUL through all of this. He went to every Drs. appt with me and every treatment. He held me the day I sobbed like a small child into my pillow trying to make the gazzillionth decision in a nano-second. He always told me how beautiful I looked and was sad when my hair started coming in. "I kinda liked your bald head" he said as he rubbed the newly forming peach fuzz!!! We also found out how many people in our community in MN loved us. Meals were brought EVERY DAY for 8 SOLID WEEKS! It was a good thing it was a cold winter because our porch become a freezer! These were 4 course meals WITH dessert!!! AMAZING!!! A gal came and cleaned my house every week for us. People carpooled the kids to their various practices. People came to take me to lunch just to get me out of the house. It was INCREDIBLE to feel the LOVE!!! SO...the story started out bleak and has a happy ending! I AM A SURVIVOR!!!!!!!

OH, also, this brought me to quilting! My sisters quilted when their kids were very little and were getting back into it. One sister dragged me to a quilt store several times to help her with a project. Eventually, both sisters and I were at a LQS and I said, "I CAN DO THIS!" And I did! So I guess I have cancer to thank for bringing quilting into my life!!!

RED MARBLES

RED MARBLES

I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily appraising a basket of freshly picked green peas. I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.

"Hello Barry, how are you today?"
"H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good."
"They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?"
"Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time."
"Good. Anything I can help you with?"
"No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas."
"Would you like to take some home?" asked Mr. Miller.
"No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with."
"Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?"
"All I got's my prize marble here."
"Is that right? Let me see it" said Miller.
"Here 'tis. She's a dandy."
"I can see that. Hmmmmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?" the storeowner asked.
"Not zackley but almost."
"Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble." Mr. Miller told the boy.
"Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller."

Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile she said, "There are two other boys like him in our community, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever. When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store."

I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado, but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles.

Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his visitation that evening and knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could

Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts, all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket. Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket.

Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one, each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.

Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband's bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.

"Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about. They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim "traded" them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size ... they came to pay their debt."
"We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world," she confided, "but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho." With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.

The Moral: We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath.

Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles.
A fresh pot of coffee you didn't make yourself.
An unexpected phone call from an old friend.
Green stoplights on your way to work.
The fastest line at the grocery store.
A good sing-along song on the radio.
Your keys found right where you left them.

IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!

Holly Jolly Pineapple

Progress is being made! I am thinking about using the tri-rec ruler and making Christmas trees to place on the top and bottom before adding borders. I want it to be a little bit longer. Right now it measures 37"x48". If I add 3" trees it'll be 37"x54" without borders. Hmmmm...I'm not sure now what I'll do...thinking thinking thinking! LOL

UPDATE:
Well, I am trying to make this quilt out of a fq tower. I wish I had some yardage of SOMETHING here (preferably the turquoise for the p/a centers and the tree backgrounds) to do a stop border. BUT...I do NOT want to buy more fabric. NO NO NO...this is the border treatment that I came up with. I'm not sure I like it, but then again, I can do some fun feathers on the wider borders to try to soften them. Any suggestions? Likes? Dislikes? Be honest with me...I can handle it! LOL...I am going to wait to proceed on this for at least a day or 2.
Thanks,
Laurie

Happy Thanksgiving and Safe Travels!

I want to wish everyone in blogland a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!! If you are travelling, please do so carefully!

Tomorrow, my dh and 4 kids will enjoy a great turkey dinner and probably play cards/games. I just love lazy days like these with the family!

Things I am thankful for:
1. good health
2. the love of family
3. fantastic friends
4. my husband having a job that provides for us very well
5. troops that are willing to put their lives on the line for our freedom

Of course there are probably more, but the most important is God, who gave me life and provides for me in ways that I don't even know about and realize.

I have all the pies made, potatoes prepped, stuffing made, and the table set. While doing all of this, it snowed for the first time today!! There is a light dusting on the ground but it SNOWED!!! Even better than that was my son Kevin, who is home from college, sitting with me and talking my ear off!

I just LOVE having the 6 of us here...no one else...just MY family! It ROCKS!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Hugs
Laurie
PS(my goal this fall was to NOT turn the heat on until Thanksgiving Day...my oldest said he'd turn it on at midnight! That would work but it's already 30 degrees on our way to a low of 22...I was close!!!)

Today's accomplishment

I bought this pattern in Chicago about 3 months ago. I decided to make this apron for myself and then make the decision about whether to make it for my girlfriends here or not as a Christmas gift.

WELL...I am pretty happy with how this turned out. I still have to buy buttons yet (they go on the flap of the pocket and the top flap) but I think it's cute. I also have to buy some "tube turners" to speed the process up. It will probably take more time to cut things out than to put it together once I get the tube turners.

The pattern is called Four Corners Apron and is from www.vanillahousedesigns.com. It takes 2 yards of fabric, one yard for the front and one yard for the back/accents. You have plenty of fabric to play with the colors of the straps.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!

I promised to post this yesterday but somehow yesterday got away from me! But the RULER I chose to learn how to use was the PINEAPPLE RULER!!! I have the "Holly Jolly" fq tower and used those fabrics. 4 blocks done and 8 more to go. I think the pineapple pattern probably needs to be for a bigger quilt to get the full effect of the pattern, but I had limited fabric so 12 blocks will be as big as it gets. This ruler is easy to use though and it amazes that people can figure this stuff out!

Here are the pics I promised! One with the greens together and one with the reds.

Have a great weekend everyone!

How many rulers can a quilter have?

I think the answer to that is AS MANY RULERS AS THE QUILTER WANTS!!! Notice I didn't say as many rulers as the quilter NEEDS!!! My problem is that I have rulers that I have NO clue how to use! YIKES!!! I have the "square in a square" ruler that I have NEVER used! I have Kaye Woods' "Starmaker" rulers that I have NEVER used! I have a "Lazy Angle" ruler that I have NEVER used! I have a setting triangle ruler that I have NEVER used! I have a "Pineapple Ruler" that I have NEVER used and don't even REMEMBER buying! I thnk I need a RULER INTERVENTION! LOL

I decided to pick one of the rulers and learn how to use it today. I wanted to make 4 blocks from the ruler of choice but didn't get them all done. I am having neck/shoulder issues and had to stop.

Stay tuned tomorrow! I will post progress then!

Til then...RULERS RULE!!!!! ROFL

FESS UP...HOW MANY RULERS DO YOU HAVE THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN USED AND/OR THAT YOU FORGOT YOU EVEN HAD? HUH?

Happy Birthday Mom

Saturday was my mom's birthday. Mom would've been 78 but she died of ovarian cancer May 20, 1992. Gosh I miss her SOOOO very much! Mom was such a woman of faith, heart, courage, hope, perseverance and so much more. She shared such an awesome love with my dad and I know he misses her terribly.

Mom stayed at home and raised 5 kids. Not just any 5 kids, but 5 successful and happy kids! Mom kept the house cleaned, loved to cook, baked the best desserts ever, and never missed our activities. She was our #1 fan and supporter. Mom always told us to chase our dreams and believe in them. My dream was to marry and have children in a happy home. I have been fortunate to experience my dream and continue to live it.

Mom's 7.5 year journey with ovarian cancer taught me about courage and facing a tough situation head on. Mom never said "why me" but just fought like crazy to live life to the fullest! She had chemo at a time when there werent' anti nausea drugs so she spent hours vomitting after each treatment...she and dad took a bucket and towel with them in the car because it hit mom that quickly.

I'll never forget the day that mom decided to stop the fight with drugs and just LIVE the rest of her days with as much vim and vigor as possible. She started calling all 5 of us kids as she always did, oldest to youngest. That means that since I am the youngest I got her at the most emotional time. She wanted to ask all of us if we minded that she stopped treatment. By the time mom called me she was pretty teary eyed and I tried ever so hard to NOT cry...I failed miserably. I did manage to tell mom from the bottom of my heart that this was her decision and that she had fought a valiant fight. I told her how much I loved her and supported her decision.

That was our last birthday, thanksgiving, and Christmas with mom. She failed slower than we thought and we began to worry about whose birthday she would die on. You see, from April 12 to May 25 mom had 8 different family member birthdays and of course mother's day in there as well that she could've died on. But being a mom to the end, she died on her own day and was buried a few days before that last bday.

On Saturday, mom's birthday, DH and I were in our hometown and we went to the cemetary to wish mom a happy birthday. While leaving the cemetary, DH grabbed my hand and held it up in the air and said, "And Joseph, they're STILL in love!" I giggled and kissed him! You see, the importance of that was from an experience about 26 years ago when we went to our hometown to tell our families we were engaged. DH and I had only dated 3 times before getting engaged and my dad said, "What brought this on?". DH was not sure what to say cuz he thought for sure that my dad figured I was pregnant (which I wasn't). My mom stepped in rather quickly and said, "Well Joseph, it's obvious they are in LOVE!" :oD Mom endeared herself to my DH FOREVER in that instant! To this day he still says, "I don't get how anyone can hate their mother-in-law. Mine was the BEST and I loved her so very much and miss her too!" (there are always tears in his eyes when he says that!)

SO Mom, even though tis is late, know that you are loved, you have 2 great grandchildren, and everyone is doing well! I LOVE YOU MOM!!!!!

WOW...Garth Brooks was AWESOME!!!!

it's hard to get good pics at a concert so this is blurry, but Garth is in the orange shirt and white cowboy hat!

Last night was the BEST concert that I have EVER been to! About month or so ago, Garth Brooks and Walmart announced that he would play one concert at the new Sprint Center in KCMO. Garth played his first concert in '89 at the KC Opry and he wanted to come back and play in the city where he started at! He hasn't toured for almost 10 years. Well, the tickets sold out so quickly that they kept adding shows...9 total! Last night was his 3rd night and DH was able to get us FREE tickets in the company suite! WOW WOW WOW...what GREAT seats! The picture above was taken from my seat in the suite.

We were treated to the night of our lives. Trisha Yearwood, Garth's wife, opened and was great. Then Garth was on stage for 2.5 hours! YEP...Garth finished singing at 11:45pm!!! He opened with "Fever" and then said, "They say the big party is in Nashville tonight!" (he was referring to the CMA Awards) Then Garth said, "The HELL it is!!! The PARTY IS RIGHT HERE IN KANSAS CITY!!!!!!!" And what a party it was! I am telling you, if you EVER get the chance to see Garth live...no matter the cost (I am hoping to go again) JUST GO SEE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta go, his CD is playing and I need to S-I-N-G!!!!! Thanks for an unforgettable night Garth! YOU ROCK!!!
